What You’ll Do Our expanding Development team is looking for an exceptional Development Support Specialist to help address exciting technical opportunities and leverage the best software quality practices in the industry, adding value to our products and services. The primary responsibility of the Development Support Specialist (DSS) is to ensure the successful ongoing operation of SpeedLine’s customers' POS systems while maintaining quality standards in the development of SpeedLine’s software solutions by providing hardware, software, and system support to the development and internal support teams. On occasion, the DSS also provides direct support to high-profile customers and partners for escalated problems requiring advanced knowledge. Key Responsibilities - Participate in the design discussions for enhancements to the company’s products, and in test planning, creation and execution of manual test cases. - Research new hardware and software products as directed by the Development Manager. - Review and edit end-user documentation created by the Technical Writing team. - Review and revise the Quality Assurance process based on industry standards and practices. - Continuously review project management systems to eliminate duplicates and refine feature requests and defect reports with additional details as necessary. - Participate in triaging custom development and defect requests. - Contribute to preparing business requirements documentation for development-related projects. - Perform Quality Testing on software enhancements, bug fixes, etc., and identify risks as early as possible in the Software Development Life Cycle. - Document, troubleshoot, and isolate problems encountered during testing. - Contribute to the growing development knowledge base in the company. - Analyze symptoms of technical problems and research solutions. - Record and report on development statistics, feature requests, performance issues, and suspected bugs. - Increase the capabilities of the Trainers and Support team by documenting symptoms, causes, and solutions and providing coaching on technical problems. - Provide advanced technical support to assigned prospects, customers, and partners. - Collaborate with third-party vendors as necessary to resolve technical problems. - Field advanced technical problems and escalations from Support Project Specialists. - Act as a point of contact for technical escalations to the Development team and liaise with other departments providing support for escalations. - Partner with the Training Specialist to develop training plans for new or updated products. - Participate in the first deployment and beta testing by assisting the Support Department in managing the customer release testing program. - Provide solutions to reduce technical issues generating high call volume. - Analyze support trends and forward recommendations to the Development Manager for action. We're Looking For Someone Who - Has a minimum of three years of experience in a senior technical support position or senior quality assurance position, or related experience. - Holds a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate program in a related field (Preferred). - Possesses a thorough understanding of SpeedLine technology and software (Preferred). - Has knowledge and experience of software development methodologies, including Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). - Experience in conversant in programming languages, databases and SQL queries, as well as knowledge and experience in advanced operating systems, networking, and system support. - Experience working in Agile/Scrum development and testing environments (Preferred). - Test Automation experience (Preferred). - Is a proven team player with a proactive attitude, able to partner with cross-functional teams, support peers, and contribute positively to overall testing objectives. - Obtains the ability to effectively estimate and contribute to business and technology solutions. - Has strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills. - Demonstrates exceptional organizational, communication, teamwork, follow-up and customer service skills. - Has a keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask and react quickly to changing priorities. - Has excellent typing and professional writing skills. - Can lead small groups to complete assigned projects. - Is available to work a flexible schedule, and has and maintains reliable transportation. Salary Range $60,000 - 70,000 annually Working Arrangements We offer flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance. This role offers a Hybrid working model, with 2 days per week required in the office.
