Systems Design Engineer (Abbotsford)

We are hiring a Systems Design Engineer for a full-time opportunity based in Abbotsford, BC . This role is ideal for an intermediate to senior‑level engineer with strong experience in product design, system integration, and multidisciplinary engineering . The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, implementing, integrating, and verifying complex systems involving mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software components . This role requires someone who can look at the full product as a complete system and ensure all parts work together effectively. Key Responsibilities - Gather and analyze system requirements from stakeholders and customers. - Translate requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and subsystem solutions. - Assess components and technologies for feasibility, performance, risk, reliability, scalability, and readiness. - Create and maintain system specifications, interface documentation, and technical design documents. - Support implementation, integration, troubleshooting, and verification of systems and subsystems. - Design and execute tests to validate system functionality and performance. - Ensure requirements, design, testing, and validation activities are properly documented and traceable. - Work closely with mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, V&V;, and project management teams. - Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies. - Prepare technical documentation, including requirements, design analysis, FMEAs, and technical reports. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. - 10+ years of relevant product design or product development experience. - Strong multidisciplinary engineering experience across mechanical, electronic, firmware, and/or software systems. - Proven ability to approach product design from a system‑level perspective. - Experience with requirements, system integration, verification, validation, documentation, and traceability. - P.Eng. certification preferred, or eligibility and motivation to obtain P.Eng. registration. - Firmware development experience is considered an asset. - Leadership or mentorship experience is considered an asset.
