FDR Social Worker - 15 Month Term (Global) - 1866 Location:

Term:
15 months, fully delegated Indigenous Social Worker

Position Summary Reporting to a Delegated Team Leader, the Social Worker will provide culturally appropriate, responsive, community-based services in line with the BC Child, Family and Community Services Act and the Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators. The role supports families, children and communities, serving as the first point of contact for child protection reports and participating in case planning, service delivery, and community events.
Responsibilities
Work holistically to keep families together and reintegrate children with their families.
Deliver services with an open heart and mind, focusing on the best interest of the family and the child at the center.
Ensure children are connected to family, community, culture and uphold their rights to heritage and identity.
Provide services within Family Development Response, Protective and Voluntary Family Service, and Guardianship.
Participate in community protocols, events and ceremonies.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Social Sciences degree.
Minimum of three years of experience in the human services field (or related education and experience).
Delegated or willing to attend training for C6 delegation in British Columbia.
Ability to practice standards as per Child Protection Response Policies, BC Child, Family and Community Services Act, AOPSI Manual, Good Recording Guide.
Knowledge of B.C. Benefits Act, B.C. Adoptions Act, B.C. Family Relations Act, Young Offenders Act, and other relevant legislation.
Understanding of cross-cultural issues affecting children in care, foster parents, biological parents, and communities.
Practical knowledge of federal, provincial and Indigenous organizations that provide health, counseling and child/family services.
Strong understanding of agency policies and procedure manuals.
Computer literacy (databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation and adequate vehicle insurance.
Criminal Records Check is required.
Strong interest in Indigenous culture and its impact on communities.
Confidentiality Employees must comply with the confidentiality expectations outlined in the Agency’s Human Resources Policy Manual, AOPSI, and the B.C. Child, Family and Community Services Act.
Compensation Salary:
$69,762.65 to $94,755.02 per annum (35 hrs. per week)
Earned Day Off:
Available: Monday Week 1
Benefits Employer paid extended health benefits and participation in the Public Service Pension Plan (eligible).
