Here's a career you were probably never told about. Fire protection technicians keep the alarms, sprinklers, and life-safety systems in every building working—and you don't need any experience to start. We'll pay you to learn the trade. If you've got a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn, this is hands-on, in-the-field work in an industry that never slows down. Why You'll Want This Job - Earn while you learn — $23.00–$27.50/hr with paid, company-funded training - A real future — a clear path to your ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician (RFPT) certification and advancement as your skills grow - Job security — stable, year-round work, rain or shine - Full benefits — extended health and dental coverage - RRSP matching after six months What You'll Actually Do You'll work side by side with an ASTTBC-Certified Fire Protection Technician, learning the trade on real job sites across the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver, and Squamish. We'll aim to keep your work close to home where we can, but travel across the service area comes with the territory. Day to day, you'll help your supervising technician: - Inspect, test, and maintain fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and sprinkler and suppression systems - Prep tools, equipment, and materials for service calls - Diagnose system issues and make repairs under direction - Complete reports and deficiency notes accurately using digital inspection systems - Communicate professionally with clients and your team - Maintain tools, equipment, and help keep the company vehicle in shape - Take part in company-funded training toward your RFPT certification - Attend safety meetings and required training (WHMIS, TDG, fall protection, and more) - Keep all work in line with the BC Fire Code, NFPA standards, and ASTTBC requirements What You'll Need - A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and a clean driving record - A high school diploma or equivalent - Eligibility to enroll in ASTTBC-recognized fire protection training (such as BCIT's Fire Protection Inspection and Testing courses) - A willingness to work toward your RFPT certification (we fund it) - Sharp attention to detail and accurate documentation - The ability to take direction, work as a team, and pick up new skills quickly - Strong customer service and communication skills - The physical ability to perform fieldwork—with or without reasonable accommodation—including lifting up to 40 lbs (such as extinguishers and backup batteries), climbing ladders, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces. Nice to Have (But Not Required) - Any experience in fire protection or a related trade - Shop, warehouse, delivery, or mechanical background - Familiarity with digital inspection and reporting systems - Some exposure to fire alarm troubleshooting and repairs The Schedule Monday to Friday, with a regular evening and weekend on-call rotation.
