Job description: Overview Beaners Fun Cuts for Kids has won Calgary's Parent Choice Award for more than 25 years. We are a salon that offers services for the entire family although our specialty is children's haircuts. We are seeking a patient, passionate, and friendly licensed hair stylist to join our award-winning organization. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who excels in providing top-notch services, customer service and enjoys watching their clients mature. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children of all ages, providing haircuts, styling, braids, fading, clipper art and other grooming services. You must have the ability to make children feel welcome, comfortable and safe, while delivering high-quality hair services that meet the needs of both children and their parents. Key Responsibilities - Proficient at providing all services including haircuts, trims, and styling, ensuring a safe, fun and comfortable experience. - Use child-friendly techniques and maintain a calm, engaging demeanor to make children feel at ease during the service. - Work with extra care children, offering patience and understanding to accommodate their needs. - Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to understand their preference and provide advice on services and hair care products. - Educate and promote retail sales by recommending appropriate hair care products suitable for children’s hair. - Keep current with children’s hairstyle trends and techniques. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the styling station and ensure all tools are sanitized between appointments. - Greet clients warmly upon arrival, manage appointments, and assist with front desk operations as needed. - Collaborate with team members to create a positive salon atmosphere that encourages creativity and teamwork. Skills - Proficient and creative in various hair styling techniques, including cutting, styling, fading, clipper art, braids, updo's, etc. - Knowledge of child-safe hair cutting techniques and products. - Solid customer service skills with the ability to build trust with children who may be anxious or nervous. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey information to clients and team members. Patience and a friendly, approachable attitude are key. - Experience in front desk operations is a plus, including Vagaro appointment scheduling and managing client inquiries. - Retail sales experience with the ability to upsell products confidently while meeting client needs. - Knowledge of sanitation practices within the salon environment to ensure health and safety standards are met. - Registration with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training board (professional license preferred).
