Dasro is looking for an Architect (Industrial Physical Layer Telecom Engineer) (Intermediate) for one of its clients in Calgary, AB. Job Title: Industrial Physical Layer Telecom Engineer (Intermediate) Location: Calgary, AB, Canada (Hybrid — In-office Mon / Tue / Thu | WFH Wed / Fri) Working Hours: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week Industry: Utilities and Energy Term: 06/08/2026 to 12/31/2026 Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Apply qualified engineering skills and practices to design physical telecom infrastructure at industrial field facilities - Split time between physical infrastructure design—creating engineering drawings or marking up existing PDF CAD drawings—and engineering oversight - Assemble and review engineering design packages (IFD/IFC) for handoff to outside engineering service providers (ESPs) - Manage a 50/50 project mix of greenfield projects (new facilities and pipelines) and technology lifecycle upgrades - Perform drawing reviews and quality assurance to ensure design intent is preserved through the external review cycle - Function under general supervision within the context of the Information Services (IS) Network Design & Engineering strategy - Be a cohesive and complementary team member to a small, senior-heavy telecom engineering team Mandatory Qualifications: - 3 to 7 years of physical infrastructure design experience in industrial or energy environments - Industry experience with physical engineering elements such as rack space, power distribution, copper/fiber cabling, conduit, and Canadian Electrical Code compliance - University Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Telecom, or Software Engineering); civil or mechanical backgrounds will not be considered - Proven proficiency reading and marking up engineering drawings using Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat - Familiarity with concepts, practices, and procedures involved when designing physical layers for industrial field facilities (such as meter stations, compressor stations, or pipeline operations) - Good communication skills and strong technical oversight capabilities to collaborate effectively with external engineering firms - Energetic and mature individual who can handle schedule-driven technology lifecycle management and hardware obsolescence challenges Desired Qualifications: - APEGA registration (P.Eng. or EIT status) is strongly preferred - Basic understanding of or exposure to control system field devices such as RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and RS-232 serial protocols - Awareness of or experience with emerging technology deployments, specifically Starlink/LEO satellite antenna cabling and placement - Previous experience working alongside instrumentation, controls, or electrical engineers Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2odxv7
