We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health & Safety Coordinator to lead and oversee all occupational health and safety initiatives across our staffing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Provincial legislation, supporting branch operations, reducing workplace incidents, and promoting a strong culture of safety for both internal employees and temporary associates working at client sites. The ideal candidate will have experience in staffing, manufacturing, logistics, or similar environments, along with strong knowledge of workers’ compensation claims processes, COR standards, and Provincial safety legislation. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Leadership - Lead internal health and safety training programs, policy communication, and ongoing compliance initiatives. - Promote a strong safety culture throughout all branch locations and client worksites. - Develop, implement, and maintain health & safety policies, procedures, and best practices in accordance with provincial legislation and industry standards. - Provide guidance and support to branch leadership regarding workplace safety expectations and incident prevention strategies. Compliance & Auditing - Conduct COR (Certificate of Recognition) audits and ensure completion of corrective actions and safety recommendations. - Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements. - Ensure all branch locations maintain required health & safety postings, fire inspection records, emergency procedures, and hazard assessments. - Assist with workplace inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments. Workers’ Compensation & Return-to-Work Management - Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, including timely submission of reports and ongoing communication with provincial compensation boards. - Coordinate modified duties and return-to-work programs for injured workers. - Maintain accurate claim documentation and monitor claims progression to support positive outcomes and cost reduction. - Guide managers and supervisors on corrective action related to safety violations, policy non-compliance, or return-to-work concerns. Reporting & Administration - Track, analyze, and report on key health & safety metrics including incident frequency, lost-time claims, audit results, and claims costs. - Prepare monthly and quarterly safety reports for senior leadership. - Schedule, organize, and lead monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, including distribution of meeting minutes and action items. - Maintain accurate safety records, training logs, and compliance documentation. Qualifications - Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. - Minimum 3–5 years of health & safety experience, preferably within staffing, or other light industrial environments. - Solid knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation and Workers’ Compensation processes. - Experience with COR auditing and safety program development considered a strong asset. - JHSC Certification and/or recognized health & safety designation (CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, etc.) is an asset. - Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to travel between branch and client locations as required. - Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
