Description
We are looking for an IT Data Analyst for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. This position is 100% onsite in downtown Calgary. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role. As part of the interview process for this role there will be a mandatory technical test of Python and SQL skills. Role Description Focus on using data and automation to solve business problems and improve efficiency within our organization's IT/OT systems. Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and create actionable insights, then communicate these findings to stakeholders to inform decision-making and drive improvements. Responsibilities Data Collection and Management (ETL): - Gathering data from various sources, including databases, systems, and potentially external sources. - Developing and maintaining data collection and storage systems. - Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality. Data Analysis and Interpretation: - Applying statistical techniques and tools to analyze data. - Identifying trends, patterns, and correlations within the data. - Developing data models to support analysis and predictions. Communication and Reporting: - Creating visualizations, reports, dashboards, and write-back dashboards. - Communicating insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences. - Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into data-driven solutions. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: - Empowered to innovate and learn skills to incorporate the use of current technologies to solve difficult business problems. - Troubleshoot and identify optimization opportunities. Required Skills and Experience - 5+ years experience in a related role. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. - Proficiency in SQL, competency in Python, Power BI, and experience in data modeling and processing techniques. - Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities. - Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Desired Skills and Experience - Experience with Databricks, PI Data Historian, MS SQL Server, other data visualization tools, REST API programming. - Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information, including visualizations and reports to diverse audiences. - Understanding of the upstream oil & gas industry, specifically Process Data, SCADA, Field Data Capture, SAP.
