Railway dynamics engineer (Structural Engineer), Région de Mistassini (Chambord)
Description
Job Title Railway dynamics engineer (Structural Engineer)

Location Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, QC

Contract 12 Months

Mandatory Skills Lean Manufacturing, Process Engineering, tooling, Lean Manufacturing Implementation, Work Instructions, Validation (Inactive), Professional Engineering

Role Looking for a Structural Engineer with expertise in Static Linear-NonLinear Analysis, Dynamic Modal-Transient-Random-Harmonic Analysis and Fatigue Damage-Life Estimation calculations to support Rolling Stock structural design. Engineer will be embedded with a cross‑functional team in St‑Bruno, delivering engineering reports and calculations aligned with North American rail standards and Quality processes.

Key Responsibilities The Railway Dynamics Engineer will contribute to project and offer development by applying internal procedures, technical guidelines, and domain‑specific best practices. The role involves performing advanced dynamic simulations, analyses, and validation activities to support engineering projects.

Execute standard dynamic calculations using Multi‑Body System (MBS) simulation tools such as SIMPACK or VAMPIRE within the context of tenders and ongoing projects.

Perform complex MBS analyses that require an interdisciplinary approach, including areas such as flexible body modeling, safety to cross wind, driveline dynamics, and active system behavior.

Conduct analysis and interpretation of test results, including both laboratory (indoor) and on‑track tests, ensuring consistency with simulation predictions.

Participate in Development activities under the coordination of the Core Competence Network, contributing to the enhancement of methodologies, tools, and technical know‑how.

Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Or) equivalent

Experience Ideally possesses 5–7 years of experience in a Railway Dynamics department within the industrial sector, or in development activities related to railway vehicle dynamics.

Competencies&Skills

Strong knowledge of Multi‑Body System (MBS) simulation tools such as SIMPACK, VAMPIRE, or equivalent software.

Proficient in Matlab/Simulink, MS Excel (advanced level), and Fortran for data processing, scripting, and model customization.

Solid understanding of mechanical vibrations, track‑vehicle interaction, and their influence on vehicle dynamic behavior; good knowledge of train system engineering principles.

Sound knowledge of mechanical design and analysis, particularly of bogie structures and suspension components, including primary and secondary suspensions, elastic elements, and dampers.

Familiarity with relevant international standards and regulations governing railway dynamics.

Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate R&D activities and promote a transversal, multidisciplinary approach.

Excellent communication, proactivity, team collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.

Advanced proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading)– mandatory
