The Opportunity

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice. The RPN provides direction to Personal Support Workers, working within the College of Nurses Standard of Practice. What You Will Do

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, implement AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit. Provide input into the revision of procedures within the residence and the unit. Liaise with physicians and other members of the health care team, including external health care partners. Immediately notify the physician of significant changes in resident status in the absence of the Registered Nurse.Work with the health care team to ensure residents’ care needs are met. Provide direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team. Participate in shift reports with the health care team, ensuring team members are informed of changes in resident status. What You Bring

Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration. Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and related regulations, including the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada), Health Promotion and Protection Act, Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice, and other pertinent Federal, Provincial, and Municipal statutes.Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and good standing as a member.
