The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is Canada’s only post‑secondary institution devoted exclusively to healthcare professions. Responsibilities

Provide academic leadership, fostering an effective learning environment and upholding all professional, provincial and national standards.

Utilize innovative teaching techniques to facilitate learning in molecular genetics and cytogenetics, and cover other subjects as departmental need requires.

Evaluate student progress and achievement, while providing student advisement and remedial assistance.

Liaise with faculty, staff and affiliated clinical site personnel.

Participate in internal committees.

Qualifications

Minimum of six years’ experience with in‑depth expertise in molecular genetics and cytogenetics.

Capable of teaching introductory and advanced classes and laboratories in cytogenetics and some molecular genetics; other disciplines may be required based on departmental need.

Degree required in a related field.

Experience working/teaching in the field within the last 12 months preferred.

Certification by and membership in relevant professional association(s).

Licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.

Training and experience in adult education desired.

Skill in various teaching approaches and innovations, including online/hybrid delivery modes.

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Familiarity with MS Office, presentation and curriculum design software.

Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance documents required upon hire.
