Pure Spirits Oyster House and Grill, part of The Distillery Restaurants Corporation (DRC), is actively seeking an engaged

Sous Chef

to join our Back of House Team in the Distillery Historic District of Toronto.

Responsibilities

Run a smooth kitchen service, calling the pass, monitoring workstations and supporting the team when required, maintaining calm leadership during busy times.

Introduce fresh ideas to improve processes and menu development, presenting them to the Executive Chef and team.

Consistently monitor kitchen operations, systems and processes to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, best practices and safety.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with fellow chefs and Front of House management.

Support all levels of ordering and receiving, maintain product par levels, ensure FIFO rotation and safe storage.

Maintain and build relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Support and create a culture centered around a healthy and happy employee experience and a genuine passion for industry, cooking, hospitality, food and beverage.

Demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity in every leadership decision.

Conduct training and development initiatives, performance management and employee coaching.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of quality cooking experience with progressive growth in a demanding high-volume restaurant environment and at least two years as Junior Sous or Sous Chef in a similar setting.

Culinary degree/diploma or equivalent in education and experience.

Growth mindset, constantly open to learning, coaching and career growth.

Passion for the industry, cooking, hospitality and food and beverage.

Strong problem-solving skills with a desire to impact performance and improve processes.

Exceptional leadership and relationship-building and communication skills.

Legal permission to work in Canada.
