LifeLabs, Canada’s leading laboratory diagnostic services provider, is hiring Medical Lab Assistants.

Position Details

Title: Medical Lab Assistant

Status: Permanent, Part Time (0–20 hours per week)

Shift: Flexible between 6:00 AM– 1:00 AM

Number of Positions: 4

Start Date: ASAP

Union: OPSEU LAB collective agreement

Your Responsibilities

Unpack and sort incoming specimens from physicians, clinics, hospitals, and mobile LifeLabs technicians.

Verify patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, correct inaccuracies, and enter data.

Prepare, sort, and separate specimens for technical analysis.

Respond to client inquiries and coordinate with the logistics department.

Train and orient new team members.

Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Work in full compliance with laboratory safety and security policies.

What You Will Bring

Completion or graduation from a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is an asset.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, with strong attention to detail, prioritization, and multitasking skills.

Data entry and computer proficiency.

Commitment to staying current with company practices, training, policies, and procedures.

Prior experience in laboratory operations or medical terminology is an asset.

Effective communication with internal and external departments.

Commitment to maintaining strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
