Duties&Responsibilities:
Hours of Work
Log in so that you are ready to start working 15 minutes before class starts
Stay until the last child leaves, everything is put away and any other tasks for the teacher are finished (be prepared for this to take more than 15 minutes!)
If you are going to be absent, find a replacement at least a week ahead of time
In cases of sudden illness, try to find a replacement and if not, let the office know at least 3 hours before the class starts
Assisting Students
Keep a full set of class notes and ensure that students get any missed work
Complete all of the homework yourself at least one week ahead of the class
Before class, get students settled and answer any homework questions
During the teaching period, walk around class and help students organize and write good notes and ensure that they are on task
Help weaker students during class - in a breakout room if necessary!
For the Assistant Teacher, this includes lateness, absents, and homework not done
Phone parents if a student is absent 15 minutes after class starts
Let them know if there have been any missed tests or handouts
Ensure that everything is fine (i.e. parents know the child is not at class)
Marking
Some marking during the week. This includes True/False or multiple-choice type questions- ensure that you have marked it by the next class, and you are there to hand it to the teacher
