About the Opportunity The Management Controller, Milk Supply Accounting, is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions at the milk collection level and for providing analytical support to the department, the Operations group and Operational Finance.
Responsibilities
Coordinate, review and/or prepare annual budgets, ongoing forecasts and monthly result reports with the department head, Operations group and Operational Finance.
Prepare the milk utilisation declarations for 17 plants and ensure submission to the Provincial Milk Boards within deadlines.
Calculate Provincial Boards’ milk payments, authorize payment of all dairy liquids purchased externally and inbound freight invoices of products.
Manage staff: hire, review performance, provide feedback, determine training needs, set key objectives and give work direction.
Review and update policies, processes and procedures for continuous improvement; support the Director in meeting reporting deadlines including account reconciliations, budget preparation, long‑term plans and forecasts.
Liaise with the four Provincial Milk Boards, milk auditors and the Canadian Dairy Commission to ensure correct application of milk declaration rules.
Supervise the milk audit process, ensuring documentation for auditors, verifying potential liabilities, documenting recommendations and ensuring implementation.
Provide variance analysis for the cost of milk and“revenue” from the plants based on internal transfer prices (PCI); deliver monthly explanations and causes of variances to upper management.
Support the department and team by producing variance analysis and KPIs, streamlining processes and implementing controls to improve productivity and reliability.
Prepare and maintain the milk and dairy internal transfer prices (PCI) (the“price grid”).
Communicate and work closely with plants to ensure changes to the milk declaration/payment system are understood and implemented.
Optimize SAP reporting and functionality to facilitate timely issue identification and analysis; work with the IT team to enhance reporting processes.
Actively participate in process‑improvement projects to streamline milk declaration and audit activities.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education in Accounting or a related discipline with a recognised professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA).
Minimum five (5) years experience in
general operations of manufacturing accounting
including three (3) years in a supervisory role or coordinating major projects.
SAP manufacturing experience with knowledge of BOMs and costing processes.
Strong team facilitation/leadership skills and commitment to employee development.
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Excellent quantitative/qualitative skills; ability to present and communicate ideas in written and oral form.
Ability to multi‑task, quickly absorb new concepts, processes and technologies in a fast‑paced changing environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; facilitation and presentation experience; ability to articulate goals and objectives.
Knowledge of business and industry processes; ability to collaborate with functional groups at plant and corporate level.
Leadership capability; ability to motivate and mentor; lead initiatives and project teams; work cross‑functionally and develop rapport with all levels of the organisation.
Proficient with standard office technology including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and SAP R3.
Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Strong understanding of various manufacturing and control processes at the plant level.
Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset.
Willingness to travel to various plants as required.
