Recreation Facilitator/Aide - Casual (Barrie)

We are currently hiring Casual Recreation Facilitators and Aides. Under the direction of the Director of Program Support & Volunteer Services, this position will be responsible for administering a range of rehabilitative, recreation and leisure programming within the IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. consistent with this philosophy and the policies and procedures of the Home and the Department. Qualifications: - Required: Enrollment in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, psychology, or other related field or Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Psychology, or other related field from a community college or university - Required. - Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in one or more of the following: - Long-term Care - Retirement residence - Seniors Community Centre and/or day program - Rehabilitation with the elderly is preferred - Experience working with the elderly an asset - Class “G” motor vehicle license is required - Class “F” motor vehicle license is preferred - Musical aptitude - beneficial - Excellent interpersonal skills - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Good organizational skills, initiative and decision making ability Hours of Work: Variable depending on shift.
