Contract Duration: June 1, 2026– September 23, 2026
Assignment Type: Full-Time Contract | 100% Allocation
Position Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Business Architect to support the Geospatial Ontario IT Program in preparation for Architecture Governance Point (AGP) 3 approval with the Ontario Government’s Architecture Review Board. The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in updating and enhancing Enterprise Architecture artifacts, Business Architecture Documentation (BAD), and Information Architecture Documentation (IAD) for enterprise‑wide governance initiatives focusedon the GIS Delivery Platform (GDP) and associated enterprise applications, web services, geomatics tools, and synchronized data platforms. This role requires close collaboration with senior stakeholders, architects, technical specialists, project managers, business analysts, and vendor SMEs to ensure successful delivery of AGP 1&2 artifact upgrades and readiness for the targeted AGP 3 presentation. The resource may also contribute to initiatives aligned with the Government of Ontario’s Bill 5 – Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025 as required.
Requirements Mandatory Skills&Experience
Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience.
Minimum 5 years of Business Architecture experience on large, complex enterprise initiatives.
Extensive experience developing Business and Information Architectures for government or large enterprise organizations.
Proven experience contributing to enterprise transformation initiatives through Business Architecture practices.
Experience working across multiple projects within large portfolios.
Strong experience with Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture methodologies and GO-ITS standards.
Experience with OPS Enterprise Architecture governance and AGP processes, particularly AGP 1 and AGP 2.
Experience creating conceptual and logical data models mapped to business process requirements.
Expertise in Information Architecture development and Information Architecture Documentation (IAD).
Experience with Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Records Management.
Strong understanding of business process modelling alignment with data modelling and information resource management.
Ability to integrate standalone Business and Information Architectures.
Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, methodologies, and frameworks including TOGAF and Zachman.
Experience across multiple architecture domains including Business, Data/Information, Application, Integration, Infrastructure, and Security Architecture.
Familiarity with architecture modelling tools such as PowerDesigner, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Orbus, or equivalent.
Ability to develop architectural governance controls and reusable architecture artefacts.
Demonstrated experience with:

Business Function Modeling
Business Process Modeling
Value Chain Analysis
KPI and Performance Measure Definition
Strategic, Legislative, and Technology Alignment
Experience aligning Business Architecture with Service Design practices and Ontario Digital Service principles.
Ability to model business functional and contractual accountabilities.
Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, consultation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience collaborating with executives and senior management teams.
Proven ability to lead architecture workshops, planning sessions, governance discussions, and stakeholder engagements.
Strong consulting and influencing skills with the ability to drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Ability to present architecture strategies and recommendations to senior leadership and technical/business SMEs.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities for complex enterprise initiatives.
Ability to identify emerging technologies and innovative architecture solutions.
Experience resolving integration, interoperability, and enterprise‑wide technical/business challenges.
Experience with SAFe Agile methodology.
Familiarity with Privacy, Records Keeping, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) principles.
Experience designing architectures leveraging modern and emerging technologies.
Knowledge of Ontario Digital Service Service Design practices.
Experience supporting procurement and vendor evaluation activities.
Experience in Application Architecture and additional enterprise architecture domains.
GIS and Geospatial platform experience is highly preferred.
