The Apotex Therapeutic Recreation team works closely with residents, families&caregivers to provide personalized, safe and compassionate support. The Apotex Therapeutic Recreation team helps long‑term care residents enjoy meaningful and satisfying recreational experiences. Recreationists assess each resident’s strengths, interests and goals to design activities that support independence and well‑being. Activities are adapted to meet individual needs so everyone can participate. The team works closely with other departments to create a holistic recreational experience.Key Responsibilities

Works with the Apotex Therapeutic Recreation and Culture&Arts teams to develop and execute therapeutic programs Completes documentation as required Attends interprofessional team meetings Interviews, orients, supervises and sets expectations with volunteers Contributes to interprofessional team and therapeutic recreation professional development Coordinates services with other staff/departmentsDevelops and maintains inventory of program supplies Qualifications

Completion of a two‑year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent required At least 1 year of experience in a Recreationist role or equivalent required Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario ('TRO') or Activity Professionals of Ontario ('APO') preferred Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating creative recreation preferredExperience in supervision of volunteers preferred Experience with a geriatric population with multiple medical conditions and/or cognitive impairment preferred Knowledge of community resources an asset Knowledge of Jewish culture, Holy Days and festivals are an asset Second language an asset, i.e. Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian or HungarianExcellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
