About You:
You thrive in a vibrant, entrepreneurial organization where your ideas are valued. You are motivated by goals, a self-starter, and enjoy wearing multiple hats in a fast-growing fintech environment.
You are a dedicated professional seeking a fulfilling career, not just a job. As a Sr. Software Developer, Quality Platform , you are senior IC (Individual Contributor) who designs and builds the tooling, pipelines and frameworks that make it easy for product teams to deliver high-quality software quickly. Partnering with DevOps, this role enhances our quality-focused CI/CD and test platform: extending and integrating pipelines, stabilizing and scaling QA environments, and creating self-serve capabilities that reduce friction for developers and testers. They act as hands‑on technical leaders, defining and executing shift‑left testing and quality enablement strategies. They partner closely with product teams to improve developer experience, increase unit and integration test coverage, and provide fast, reliable quality signals across the SDLC.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust, reusable automated testing frameworks, tools, and scripts to validate complex software systems using industry standards tools
Partner directly with developers, business systems analysts and product owners to clarify acceptance criteria, promote high‑impact unit testing, and align on quality benchmarks
Own the ongoing health and expansion of our automated regression suite, with a particular focus on increasing integration and API coverage
Lead the development of new enhancements to test frameworks and infrastructure: support efficient CI/CD practices, reduce feedback loops, and optimize performance testing– positioning QA as an engineering force multiplier
Shape the long‑term quality platform roadmap and champion a quality‑first culture through metrics and process improvements
Encourage shifting left; embed testing best practices into every stage of development, advocating for a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility
Evaluate application performance and coordinate targeted load and scalability testing as needed
Inspire and mentor QA team members, fostering an environment of continuous technical growth, inclusive collaboration, and leadership within the team
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science or a related technical field
8+ years of professional experience in software development or quality engineering, with a sharp focus on backend systems, ideally in FinTech , B2C SaaS , or regulated environments
Expert‑level Java skills; hands‑on experience with automation frameworks like Junit, JMeter, or TestNG is an asset. Experience with API testing and contract testing (e.g. Pact) is highly valued
A meticulous attention to detail and proven ownership over the entire product quality lifecycle
Working knowledge of observability platforms (e.g. DataDog or OpenTelemetry) for monitoring and root cause analysis
Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and cloud‑native environments (e.g. AWS, GCP, Kubernetes)
Collaborative mindset, innovation‑driven, and ready to elevate the QA function alongside a growing team
Using AI assistants to generate test ideas, boilerplate code, and synthetic test data, and then critically review outputs
Understanding of AI‑powered testing tools (self‑healing locators, smart test generation)
Experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) is an asset
Ability to integrate or adopt AI tools in day‑to‑day tasks
Benefits to Joining Propel
Growth and opportunity– we pride ourselves on promoting from within
Incredible company culture
Competitive salary and health benefits
Group health and dental benefits
Group RRSP program
Support for new parents
Diverse and inclusive workplace
Salary Range
$100,000– $135,000
Final compensation is determined by market conditions, location, and the candidate’s experience, skills, and education. This role may also be eligible for performance‑based incentive programs and total compensation may include variable incentives, such as bonuses and commissions.
This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.
