Position Summary

As a key member of the Billings team, you will work closely with the legal professionals to manage the billing process lifecycle. In addition, you will be assigned additional accounting tasks outside of the high‑volume month end billing cycle. Duties and Responsibilities

Billing

Respond to requests from lawyers, clients and administrative staff related to WIP, A/R, billing reconciliations, trust balances, and applications of cash. Process AR write‑offs as requested by lawyers. Edit and finalize accounts following lawyer/client instructions and provide backup to billing at month end.Review and maintain client fee structures, rate changes, special billing requests and invoices to determine compliance with firm policies and procedures. Prepare electronic bills in LEDES (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard) format. Process and submit electronic invoices using e‑Billing Hub.Set up new clients moving to e‑Billing in 3E and e‑Billing Hub. Review client guidelines, set up rules in 3E and train lawyers/assistants. Submit client rates/status reports and accruals through the various client e‑billing portals. Track status of bills submitted in e‑Billing Hub, identify issues and work with colleagues to address rejections and deductions as they arise.Proactively review WIP and process WIP write‑offs. Provide training to legal assistants on e‑billing processes as required. Accounting – General

Identify and process different types of payments from clients to pay their outstanding accounts. Monitor timecards, post time and assist with the clean‑up of older timecards. Investigate inactive trust balances, recommend a course of action to the lawyer responsible for the matter and support the administrative process to return the funds to an appropriate party.Other general accounting tasks that may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications

Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a related field. Minimum 3 years of previous accounting experience, preferably within the legal industry. 2+ years of billing experience within a law firm. Proficient in MS Office suite – strong working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience with 3E,e‑Billing Hub and/or related enterprise‑level accounting systems is an asset.Strong client‑service orientation combined with the ability to manage multiple client needs at the same time. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization. Demonstrated ability to be proactive, take initiative and achieve results.Sound judgment, including the ability to deal with confidential information with utmost discretion. Strong collaboration and negotiation skills; able to work with tact, poise, and discretion. Exceptional attention to detail, efficient and organized. Flexibility to work overtime when necessary (e.g., month‑end, year‑end).Success in This Role Means
