Overview The Client Executive owns and grows a portfolio of multinational clients, with full responsibility for retention, relationship expansion, and client satisfaction across Northern Trust. This role delivers tailored, advice‑driven solutions while identifying opportunities to deepen relationships and drive growth. In this role, you will strategically manage institutional asset servicing clients, focusing on client satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth while proactively mitigating risk for both the client and the organization. You will work closely with product partners to deliver innovative solutions tailored to each client, drawing on capabilities across Asset Management, Securities, and Front Office Solutions. You will act as a trusted advisor, anticipating client needs and connecting the right resources to deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of complex master trust, custody, and asset servicing clients
Own and execute client relationship strategies focused on retention, growth, and long‑term value
Identify opportunities to expand services by aligning client needs with firm capabilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and their advisors through proactive engagement
Deliver insights on industry trends, regulatory developments, and evolving client needs
Partner with internal teams to design and deliver tailored solutions
Lead relationship reviews, track progress against goals, and adjust strategies as needed
Own client profitability, including pricing and overall contribution
Understand the competitive landscape and position Northern Trust effectively
Support new business development and prospecting efforts within the market
Escalate and resolve client issues to ensure a consistent client experience
Engage senior leadership as needed to support strategic relationships
Experience and Skills
10 to 15 years of experience in relationship management, client servicing, and business development within financial services
Experience across asset servicing, custody, trust, and investment products
Understanding of banking, credit, and treasury services
Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and drive growth
Strong commercial mindset with experience managing profitability
Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship management skills
Ability to lead client discussions, negotiate, and close opportunities
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across teams
Knowledge
Understanding of asset servicing, trust, and investment solutions
Knowledge of industry trends, regulatory environment, and client challenges
Familiarity with Northern Trust capabilities across Asset Management, Securities, and Front Office Solutions
Awareness of market dynamics and competitive landscape
