Progress Rail Canada is looking for an experienced signal engineer to design signal systems for freight projects and serve as a key point of contact with customers and transit authorities. This is an in‑office position that can be based in one of several locations including Calgary, Edmonton, Vaughn, Burlington, Mississauga, London, Montreal and others.Responsibilities
Design, 2nd level check and 3rd level check wiring plans and software (ladder logic and program configurations) for wayside (CTC, PTC, ABS, and interlockings) and grade‑crossing warning systems. Review preliminary engineering and scope of work for projects, including single‑line drawings and route and aspect charts.Ensure compliance with applicable client and regulatory standards, rules, and regulations. Apply P. Eng. stamping for 3rd level checking and review. Attend client meetings. Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and EITs. Qualifications
Proficient in wayside signaling (ABS, CTC, PTC, interlockings) with microprocessor and relay‑based designs. Proficient in highway crossing warning systems with microprocessor and relay‑based designs. 7 years of experience in Class 1 freight signal design. Thorough knowledge of industry standards and rules including AREMA C&S, FRA, Transport Canada. Bachelor’s degree (required). Professional Engineer designation (required). Job Details
Job type: Full‑time Location: In person, with preferred commute or relocation within Toronto, Ontario; relocation package offered. Pay: CA $135,000 - CA $160,000 per year. Benefits
