Overview

Physical Security&Crisis Management department is looking for a Travel Risk&Event Security Specialist. Our department manages a best-in-class corporate physical risk management and asset protection program, safeguarding Sun Life’s people and operations worldwide. Our dynamic group of professionals delivers effective oversight, assessment, consulting, and support services in enterprise physical risk management, including global incident monitoring and crisis response, physical security systems and technology, travel risk,enhanced personnel protection, and occupational health&safety. The role reports to the Manager, Enhanced Personnel Protection. About the Role

The successful candidate will work with a team responsible for executing travel risk management, executive protection, and event security requirements in support of personnel and asset protection through risk assessments, reporting, consulting, onsite presence, awareness, and education. This position will maintain strong partnerships with internal and external business partners, provide active support to risk programs for our global operations, and drive program effectiveness, enhancements, and high-quality delivery of services.What you will do

Oversee event security and compile threat and risk intelligence on geopolitical concerns, security risks such as crime, terrorism, and civil unrest to ensure traveler safety. Provide operational on‑site support for high‑profile events and meetings, including personnel protection, organizing movements to and from, and supervising security contractors.Prepare detailed event security risk assessments and security operational plans to support off‑site events globally. Provide relevant and timely situational awareness, travel, and briefing information in collaboration with third‑party security, medical, and travel risk vendors. Analyze metrics, identify trends, and create processes and strategies to address risks or vulnerabilities associated with those trends.Collaborate with internal partners such as the Incident Reporting Centre to coordinate, review, approve and execute personnel protection program elements. Participate in and contribute to industry‑related threat intelligence roundtables, groups or committees pertaining to executive protection, travel risk management and event security.Maintain strong working relationships with business leaders to ensure quality of services meets organizational objectives. Interface directly with external government, security, law enforcement and emergency services officials when required. Decision-Making Authority

Works in tandem with the Manager, Enhanced Personnel Protection to implement program priorities. Works with internal teams, such as the Incident Reporting Centre, to implement program priorities. What you need to succeed

Degree or diploma in security, investigation, or risk management; or comparable professional education/training in a field relevant to security or investigation management. Minimum of 3years of experience with travel risk management and executive protection. Minimum of 3years of experience within a corporate, government security or risk department for a similar organization of comparable size and complexity. Professional designation preferred in security or investigations management, such as Associate Protection Professional, Certified Protection Professional, or Professional Certified Investigator.Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills along with a high level of integrity. Ability to effectively navigate a highly complex organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to scope and prioritize a wide range of tasks.Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Experience working with both internal teams and contracted operations. Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of ethics, diversity, equity, and harassment in the workplace. Self‑starter with strong collaboration skills. Assets

Fundamental knowledge of threat/risk assessment and related principles, protocols, and industry standards. Familiarity with the Financial Services, Occupational Health and Safety, or Emergency Services Industry. What’s in it for you

Base Pay range: $60,000–$97,000. Eligible employees participate in incentive plans and other discretionary bonuses. Professional benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans. EEO Statement
