Junior Policy Advisor

The Residential and Commercial Tenancies Unit in the Planning and Housing Policy Branch is seeking a Junior Policy Advisor to help drive some of the province's most impactful housing initiatives. About the Unit The Residential and Commercial Tenancies Unit leads policy and legislative development, research, issues management and public communications with respect to rental housing and commercial tenancies governed under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 (RTA) and Commercial Tenancies Act (CTA).About the job Support in developing policy, programs and legislation through research, analysis, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Liaise with ministry and external stakeholders to consult, evaluate and respond to issues. Develop briefing materials, research reports, correspondence and meeting notes for senior management.Respond to requests for information and analysis within tight timelines. What you bring to the team Policy and research expertise Knowledge of policy and program principles and techniques; ability to analyze and provide input regarding policy and program development and implementation; knowledge of government decision‑making processes and strategy development, or the ability to acquire it.Research and analytical skills Qualitative and quantitative research and analytical abilities; experience synthesising data from multiple sources into clear findings and options; ability to conduct multi‑jurisdictional and environmental scans; ability to evaluate policy effectiveness, risks and implementation considerations.Communication and stakeholder skills Proven ability to prepare explicit, concise briefing notes, analyses and presentations; interpersonal, consultation and relationship‑management skills; ability to present and defend policy advice with professionalism and judgment; prepare correspondence and respond to stakeholders; demonstrated political acuity and sensitivity in high‑profile environments.Planning, organization and project management Ability to manage multiple projects with competing and short‑term deadlines; experience coordinating or contributing to cross‑functional teams; organizational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure; proficiency with standard office and data tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).We are building an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
