The Senior Principal Data Architect is a visionary technical leader responsible for the structural integrity and strategic evolution of our enterprise Data Platform. Working within the Forward Deployed Engineering team, you will bridge the gap between abstract platform capabilities and high-impact business solutions. You will ensure that our decentralized Data Mesh architecture remains cohesive, secure, and optimized for Agentic AI and advanced analytics.As a Senior Principal-level role, you are expected to possess expert-level mastery in programming and cloud-native expertise. You will lead projects through technical influence, architectural oversight, and hands‑on solutioning, and serve as the primary architect for client outreach in the Forward Deployed Engineering team, working directly with business units to consolidate customer data products and modernize legacy workflows.Architectural Leadership&Strategy

System Design: Define the end‑to‑end architecture for the Self‑Serve Data Platform, ensuring seamless integration between GCP, Databricks, and next‑gen AI tools. Technology Selection: Evaluate and implement current tools for the data stack, create leading edge data products to back our Agentic frameworks, and determinethe best solutions for real‑time analytics for the organization.Forward‑Deployed Engineering: Serve as the lead technical consultant for business‑aligned projects, providing the architectural blueprint to guide our clients and platform teams toward the best solution and making a business impact. Pattern Standardization: Establish best‑practice solution and integration patterns that allow decentralized business teams to build autonomous data products, solving data and AI self‑serve challenges at scale.Technical Expertise&Skills

Cloud&Data Mastery: Expert‑level proficiency in one of the cloud data platforms, preferably GCP and/or Databricks. Programming: Veteran in Python, PySpark, and SQL. Architecture&Integration: Advanced knowledge of Integration Patterns, Design Patterns, and modern CI/CD supply chains. AI Infrastructure: Proven ability to operationalize / design MLOps, Agent Runtimes, and AI Development Environments. AI&Data Engineering Excellence

AI Orchestration: Design the solution and platform infrastructure necessary to support Agentic AI solutions and proactive, self‑correcting data governance and FinOps. Engineering Mentorship: Lead the cultural shift toward AI‑augmented data engineering, setting the standard for how our team and our clients use GenAI to develop, enable, and automate.Compress Business Decisions: Build next‑generation data products that shorten business decision time with agentic networks, grounded models, RAG engines, and purpose‑built conversational analytics. Governance, FinOps&Security

Operational Excellence: Operationalize FinOps at an architectural level, designing systems that inherently minimize non‑value‑add compute costs. Policy as Code: Collaborate with our cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to embed operational guardrails into the IaC Factory, scaling the platform with an SRE focus.Metadata Mastery: Leverage the Enterprise Data Catalogs in all solutions to ensure global data discoverability, security, and data product lifecycle. Qualifications&Experience

Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead large‑scale technical projects in a matrix‑management environment. Consultative Mindset: Experience in a Product‑focused or Forward‑deployed role where you influenced business outcomes through technology. Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field is highly preferred for this level of seniority. Equivalent experience accepted.Reporting&Impact

Placement: Member of the Forward Deployed Engineering squad and senior advisor to the Data Platform squad. Reporting: Reports to the Managing Director or Data Platform Director, while providing technical guidance to Technical Leaders and Product Owners. Additional Information

This role requires three days of in‑office presence per week for Greater Toronto Area (GTA) residents. For candidates residing outside the GTA, a remote workplace arrangement is available. Compensation Information
