Staff Software Engineer– International Card Tech – Backend

Location: 161 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Responsibilities

Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. Act as a technical lead developer, owning technical design and development of cross‑functional, multi‑platform, fault‑tolerant application systems. Continuously improve the software engineering developer experience; identify gaps in existing internal framework and tools and contribute.Establish engineering best practices; identify and establish code–review standards and other best‑practice standards. Provide technical expertise and problem solving; define technical standards and provide technical support to ensure engineering best practices are consistently met. Own architecture decisions – apply robust understanding of how evolving technology affects the domain, follow High Level Design (HLD) methodology and contribute to HLD.Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate associates through engineering best‑practice and standards. Basic Qualifications

At least 6 years of hands‑on development experience, preferably using Java, Python, Go or other object‑oriented programming languages. At least 6 years of experience with application and/or data design, architecture and development. Experience with AWS (highly preferred) or other cloud products such as Microsoft Azureor Google Cloud.Experience providing mentorship to junior/intermediate associates and guidance to technical and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications

8+ years of experience leading the full life‑cycle of software development. Bachelor’s, Master’s or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field. Experience working in an agile environment and familiarity with agile development methodologies.Benefits

Annual salary range: $157,400– $179,600 (CAD). Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses. Hybrid work environment: 3 days in office; one‑time work‑from‑home allowance.
