Position Overview Full‑time tenure stream position in Photonics Quantum Technologies at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Applied Science&Engineering, Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Rank: Assistant Professor. Anticipated start: July 1, 2026. Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto).
Responsibilities
Conduct innovative research at an internationally high level in photonic devices, circuits, and systems that leverage the quantum properties of light for emerging applications such as communications, computing, networks, sensing, and imaging.
Establish a strong, externally funded independent research program.
Contribute to and enrich undergraduate and graduate teaching, including course teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development.
Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across the department, university, industry, and government research labs.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter).
Demonstrated excellence in research (high‑impact journal and conference publications, awards, endorsements from top international referees).
Demonstrated excellence in teaching (course syllabi, evaluations, teaching statements, workshops, seminars, mentorship).
Willingness to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is highly desirable.
