Communications Manager (Canada Summer Jobs) About The Word On The Street Toronto The Word On The Street Toronto is Canada’s largest free outdoor book and magazine festival, celebrating storytelling, literacy, and ideas through programming that engages readers of all ages. Each year, more than 130,000 visitors attend the festival to experience author talks, performances, workshops, marketplace exhibitors, and community activations in the heart of downtown Toronto at David Pecaut Square. The 2026 festival will take place on September 26–27, 2026 .
For over 35 years, The Word On The Street has connected audiences with Canadian and Indigenous authors, publishers, booksellers, artists, and cultural organizations while championing literacy, accessibility, and diverse voices.
Job Overview The Communications Manager supports the development and delivery of festival communications, digital marketing, and audience engagement initiatives. This role provides emerging cultural workers with hands‑on experience in content creation, social media management, public engagement, and communications strategy within one of Canada’s leading literary festivals.
Working closely with the Executive Directors and festival team, the Communications Manager will contribute to audience engagement campaigns, digital storytelling, promotional initiatives, and public‑facing communications across multiple platforms.
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, you must:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
