Position Overview The Department of Geography, Environment&Geomatics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenured position in Environmental Geomatics at the Associate or Full Professor level. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses and play an active role in developing an expanded curriculum.
Lead independent research programs in Environmental Geomatics.
Secure research funding and demonstrate a proven record of success in funding acquisition.
Innovate experiential education, community‑engaged learning, and inclusive pedagogy.
Mentor students at various levels and maintain a strong service record.
Qualifications We seek an innovative scholar with teaching and research interests in Environmental Geomatics, enhancing our strengths in problem‑focused, policy‑relevant, and solutions‑oriented teaching and learning.
Hold a Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related discipline.
Have a proven track record of scholarly contributions commensurate with an Associate or Full Professor rank.
Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, including experience with course leadership and delivery.
Show expertise in environmental geomatics, applied GIS and/or remote sensing, providing a research portfolio that complements or diversifies existing departmental strengths.
Research areas may include geomorphology, water resources, natural hazards, agriculture, sustainability, food systems, environmental conservation, environmental justice, climate risk, or ecosystem restoration.
Possess research and/or teaching experience including innovative applications of UAVs.
Have a demonstrated ability to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and disseminate knowledge to multiple audiences.
