Position Title: Computer Basics Instructor (Part-Time) Pay rate: $20-22/hour based on experience and skillset; reimbursed for mileage if at an offsite community partner Hours a week: 24 hours/week – Contract based on the government funding Contract: June 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027 Benefits: Not Applicable Reports to: Get SET Program Manager Position Summary: The Computer Basics Instructor role requires the ability to teach in an adult environment. Many of our clients are seniors, newcomers or vulnerable populations looking to re-enter the workforce. The Computer Basics Instructor will be responsible for teaching Computer Basics, Microsoft Office and Employability workshops as assigned by the Get SET Program Manager. This role is IN-PERSON, some classes will be delivered at our headquarters in Brampton in person, and some will be delivered off-site at community partner locations. We are a community-based non-profit adult literacy delivery agency entrenched in the Peel region that strives to provide adults in need of basic language, math, computer, and literacy skills. Key Duties and Responsibilities At least 1-2 years of experience teaching adults in a group setting is a definite asset - Clear understanding of the Get SET: Skills, Education and Training Program is an asset although training will be provided - Having worked within the Ontario Adult Learning Curriculum Framework (OALCF) structure would be a definite advantage for success in the role. Training will be provided if the incumbent does not have this. - Complete and stay up to date on client paperwork and files according to Ministry standards. - Ability to adjust teaching style to varying skill levels is required - Ability to respond to a range of adult students’ needs and learning styles is needed for success in the role. - Highly motivated and able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team. - Ability to develop curriculum to deliver to target demographic is a definite asset - Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills - Ability to work in a multicultural environment - Ability to commute within Peel; access to a personal vehicle is required. Mileage will be reimbursed Qualifications: College diploma and previous Adult Digital Literacy teaching experience would be favourably looked upon - Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace, and other technologies is a definite asset - Must be comfortable working with files on the cloud and use different online tools to save and manage files - Understanding of the Ontario Adult Learning Curriculum Framework (OALCF) would be an asset Computer Lab: Maintain the computer teaching room/labs and an inventory of information and technology equipment (hardware and software) in partnership with the Program Manager. Working Environment: Low to moderate stress levels given time of year and student registration volumes, and community partner needs - Our environment is agile and quick-paced – must be able to interact with a variety of community members and community partners and target demographic that we service in the Peel region. - Must be comfortable interacting with persons with developmental disabilities, different learning styles, ethnic backgrounds, and learning barriers - A vulnerable sector check will be required upon offer of employment.
