2026/2027, Fall Term, Course-Based Contract, Department of History – Faculty of Arts The Faculty of Arts is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) to teach the following course taught in the Department of History, for the academic year, at the Brandon University Campus. The course will be delivered in an online synchronous format. Qualifications: Applicants must have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise in Public History, History, or related fields. They will hold a Master’s Degree in Public History or History, and those holding a Ph.D. or who are at the ABD stage may be preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to a Master’s and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or skilled credentials. Salary: $8,132 per 3 credit hour course. Application deadline : A review of applications will begin June 1, 2026, and the posting will remain open until the position(s) is filled. Fall Term: Classes run from September 9 to December 11, 2026, with an exam period following. This is a conceptually oriented predominantly seminar course designed to introduce students to the development, nature, problems, and challenges of public history in Canada. Students will be involved to critically examine accounts of public history and explore examples of public history – with an emphasis on the controversial – presented through commemoration sites, websites, television productions, films, court cases, and museum exhibits. The course will include guest speakers, visits to local public history sites, museums and archives. Students will be required to engage in a practical application of historical knowledge in the field of public history.
