Qualifications: - Knowledge of Manitoba's compulsory and voluntary Apprenticeship MB trades. - Experience with and knowledge of Manitoba's education system, including curriculum, assessment, and professional learning. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, educators, administrators, parents, and skilled trades employers. - Strong oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. - Strong written communication skills. - Strong organizational and time management skills, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders. Duties - Promote High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) with students, parents, and potential skilled trades employers. - Work with Apprenticeship Manitoba to register and track apprentices. - Assist eligible students in finding employers. - Ensure both student-apprentices and their employers are aware of all roles and responsibilities of the Workers Compensation Board. - Determine suitability of student-apprentice, potential employer, and the on-the-job training worksite. - Assist employers to understand their roles and responsibilities in employing a student-apprentice. - Ensure employers are insured and complete a worksite suitability and risk assessment with the student-apprentice. - Assist employer in working with Apprenticeship Manitoba to complete Designated Training Application. - Build relationships with current and potential employers in the local community. - Collaborate with the employer to monitor student-apprentice progress, attendance, accountability, and development of work skills. - Monitor student-apprentices as they complete required academic courses for graduation, along with the HSAP credits. - Track student-apprentice on-the-job hours and register HSAP credits as earned. - Collaborate with the employer to assess and evaluate student-apprentice personal and on-the-job skills. - Assist student-apprentices’ transitions from HSAP to post-secondary apprenticeship training. - Upon graduation, assist with submission of required documents to Apprenticeship Manitoba (i.e. high school transcript; report of hours; and an Accreditation (AC) number if the student-apprentice successfully completed and met the requirements for a Technical-Vocational accredited program). - Ensure all provincial trade regulations are followed meaning: - a qualified trainer is on the job site at all times with the student-apprentice. - the student-apprentice-to-journeyperson ratio is correct. - the student-apprentice is paid according to Manitoba Employment Standards. - ensure student-apprentices receive training in various tasks within the trade. - support the student-apprentice’s continuation of academic studies. - communicate all the on-the-job and academic expectations to the student-apprentice. - evaluate the student-apprentice and provide completed evaluation forms to the school contact/guidance counsellor upon request. - Confirm with student-apprentice that the safety orientation has been completed. - Offer reminders of Protected Work procedures and right of refusal.
