Goodman Steel Ltd is a fabrication and machining company serving the potash industry, regulatory bodies, and the local farming community. Our company focuses on delivering high-quality, safe, and cost-effective metal solutions. Our facilities include an 11,250-square-foot fabrication area equipped with advanced CNC robotic plasma cutting systems and in-house detailing capabilities. The 6,500-square-foot machine shop supports a wide range of machining services on carbon, stainless, and alloy steels, as well as aluminum and plastics.Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Welder/Fitter role based at Goodman Steel Ltd in Rocanville, SK. The Welder/Fitter will interpret drawings and blueprints, lay out and fit components, and perform high-quality welds on a variety of materials and thicknesses. Daily tasks include setting up welding equipment, preparing and aligning parts, performing welding operations, and finishing and inspecting welds to meet company and customer standards. The role involves operating fabrication tools, assisting with assembly and repairs, and collaborating with machinists, mechanics, and other team members to complete projects safely and efficiently. The Welder/Fitter is expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to continuous improvement in quality and productivity.Qualifications
Proficiency in Welding processes, including Arc Welding and related fabrication techniques. Hands‑on experience with MIG Welding and TIG Welding for various materials and thicknesses. Knowledge of Materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys, and aluminum, and their welding characteristics.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Relevant welding trade certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to perform accurate measurements and layouts.Capability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, standing, and working in varied positions. Previous experience in industrial, structural, or agricultural fabrication environments is preferred. Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
