We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Controller to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional plants to our customers. : The Part-Time Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial health and accounting operations of the greenhouse business. This role provides leadership in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls while supporting strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for a hands-on financial professional who can balance day-to-day accounting oversight with high-level financial guidance in a quick paced, production-driven environment. You will be responsible for a wide range of Finance and Administrative related tasks, as described below: Financial Reporting & Analysis: · Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements (P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) · Analyze financial performance, margins, and variances against budgets · Provide insights to ownership on cost drivers, profitability, and operational efficiency Day to Day Accounting Oversight: · Oversee & assist with accounts payable, receivable & payroll · Ensure accuracy of accounting records and reconciliations · Supervise Support Staff Cash Flow & Cost Management: · Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support seasonal peaks · Provide recommendations on cost control, pricing, and capital investments · Assist in evaluating major purchases (equipment, infrastructure, energy etc.) Internal Controls & Compliance: · Establish and maintain accounting policies and internal controls · Ensure compliance with tax regulations, payroll, and reporting obligations · Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and advisors Systems & Process Improvement: · Improve accounting workflows and reporting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP, dashboards) · Streamline financial processes and introduce automation where possible · Support integration of financial KPIs into operational reporting Budgeting & Forecasting: · Develop annual budgets aligned with production plans · Collaborate with operations to improve efficiency and margins · Track labor, material, and overhead costs vs. production targets Requirements: · CPA designation (preferred) or equivalent experience · 5+ years in accounting/finance · Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks) · High level of integrity and attention to detail · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Comfortable in a fast-paced, operational environment What We Offer: · Flexibility in working hours with approximately 20-30 hours per week · Competitive compensation based on experience · Profit Sharing · Group Health Benefits · Shoe allowance · Monthly employee lunches · Annual employee swag How to Apply: If you are ready to embark on an exciting career in horticulture and contribute to the success of Proplant's greenhouse operation as a Controller, please apply today!
