Brockville, Canada Financial Controller Reporting to the President, the Financial Controller (FC) is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the company. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and a high degree of integrity. The FC works closely with the Assistant Financial Controller, internal team members, and key business units to support both operational and strategic initiatives. The Financial Controller will ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial information is available to management, while maintaining efficient processes and strong internal controls. This role includes direct involvement in routine bookkeeping, administrative tasks, and data entry, as well as assisting with system improvements and financial process automation. We offer flexible work arrangements, including remote, hybrid, or in‑office options. - Key Responsibilities - Minimum Requirements - Manage and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, cash management, and general ledger activities. - Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness. - Maintain accounting records and perform hands-on bookkeeping and data entry as required. - Administer and maintain accounting systems, including Odoo ERP and QuickBooks Online, and assist with workflow improvements and automations. - Supervise daily accounting operations and coordinate work with the Assistant Financial Controller. - Liaise with and manage all activities related to the external accountant, including year-end close and audit support. - Monitor cash flow, reconcile accounts, and ensure financial data integrity across systems. - Support internal teams with financial information, reporting, and process improvements. - Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times. - Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior bookkeeper in a small to mid-sized organization in Engineering or Construction Fields - Strong working knowledge of Odoo ERP and QuickBooks Online. - Comfortable with administrative duties, routine accounting tasks, and detailed data entry. - Experience supporting or implementing accounting automations and system improvements. - Highly trustworthy, reliable, and responsive, with robust attention to detail. - Solid understanding of Canadian accounting practices and financial reporting. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and support a growing organization. - An Engineering Technician (2 year) diploma. - Interested in construction and engineering. - Experience putting together permit drawing packages an asset. - Technical drawing with AutoCAD required - Experience with Sketchup and Layout an asset. Compensation may include base salary and other non‑discretionary remuneration in accordance with Ontario employment standards. This position represents an existing vacancy within the organization.
