Civil Construction - Working Forperson (Burlington)

If so, Rite-X, would like to hear from you!! We are seeking a dedicated Working Foreperson to join our growing team. The ideal candidate must have a solid and comprehensive understanding of civil earthworks, excavation and trenching processes, along with understanding and implementing all applicable safety regulations. This is a HANDS-ON position which will combine both supervisory duties, along with physical involvement in excavation and civil earthwork tasks. The Working Foreperson must ensure that the crew(s) remain productive, compliant, and motivated, while ensuring operations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, specification, and all company standards. The ideal candidate must be able to display five (5) years of experience in civil construction, with at least two (2) years in a foreperson or leadership role. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: - Supervise excavation activities, including trenching, grading, pipelaying, backfilling, and machinery operation. - Interpret site plans, blueprints, and project layouts for all civil activities. - Understand, follow and maintain all safety protocols (provincial, municipal, company, and client required), and ensure that all team members are in compliance with the same. - Coordinate with the Site Superintendent and other trades to maintain workflow. - Assign tasks and monitor progress, quality, and productivity of all team members. - Assist with setting grades. - Troubleshoot site issues and resolve conflicts promptly. - Maintain accurate logs and records, including, but not limited to, labour, materials, and equipment usage. - Conduct jobsite inspections and safety talks as required. - Work with the crew on any required tasks. Required Competencies and Attributes: - Highschool diploma, or equivalent; technical or trade training highly preferred. - A minimum of five (5) years previous experience in civil construction, with at least 2 years in a foreman or leadership role. - Dependable leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Solid knowledge of excavation techniques, including digging, trenching, grading, setting catch basins, pipelaying, soil conditions, and shoring practices. - Knowledge of excavation machinery and operation. - Strong knowledge of applicable building code and safety legislation in reference to civil and earthworks. - Ability to pass any client required security screenings, police and/or background checks. - Must have a valid AR drivers license and a clean driver's abstract. Preferred Skills and Experience: - Experience with GPS and other technology used in excavation practices. - Excellent communication skills, written and oral. - Computer literacy. - Excavation machinery certifications are a highly regarded asset. Work Environment: - Work is performed on construction sites, which will involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions. - May require lifting and physically demanding tasks. Work Location: GTA and surrounding areas (with the high possibility of remote and out of town work).
