Part-Time Personal Chef / Meal Prep Chef & Grocery Shopper …, Burlington
Description
Fisher Family QEW & Guelph Line area — Burlington, ON Part-time | 2 days per week We are looking for a practical, efficient Personal Chef / Meal Prep Chef & Grocery Shopper to prepare tasty, healthy weekly meals for a two-adult household in Burlington. This is not a luxury fine-dining private chef role. We are looking for someone who is fast, organized, cost-conscious, and excellent at making real food that reheats well. The ideal person may be an experienced meal prep chef, personal chef, strong home cook, line cook, prep cook, or small-scale production cook who knows how to plan, shop, batch cook, portion, label, and keep food consistent. About the role You will help plan and prepare weekly meals for two adults with explicit nutrition targets and food preferences. The food should be healthy, satisfying, flavourful, and easy to reheat in the microwave. Most meals should be: Easy to eat with a spoon or fork Fully cooked and portioned Microwave-friendly Tasty after reheating Healthy without feeling like bland “diet meal prep” Efficient and economical to produce Cooking can happen in our kitchen or, where appropriate, your own suitable kitchen. Grocery shopping is part of the role. You will pick up groceries, and we will reimburse approved grocery costs. Schedule This is a part-time role, 2 times per week. The exact days and timing can be discussed, but the goal is to keep the household stocked with fresh and freezer-friendly meals throughout the week. Food style We like familiar, comforting, sauce-forward meals inspired by cuisines such as: Indian Thai Mediterranean Chinese Italian Other multicultural, takeout-style favourites The right person should be able to make healthy meals that still feel craveable, satisfying, and varied. Responsibilities Create simple weekly meal plans based on nutrition targets and preferences Shop for groceries at good practical value Use seasonal items, sales, and smart substitutions when possible Batch cook meals efficiently once or twice per week Prepare shared lunches and dinners for two adults Prepare some breakfasts and snacks as needed Portion, label, refrigerate, and freeze meals clearly Make meals that reheat well and require no cutting or assembly Keep the menu varied without making prep overly complicated Minimize waste by reusing ingredients intelligently Maintain a clean and organized cooking process Nutrition and meal expectations You do not need to be a dietitian, but you should be comfortable cooking from clear nutrition guidelines. Main meals should generally include 30–35g protein per serving and regularly incorporate: Beans or legumes Fruit Cruciferous vegetables Greens Other vegetables Whole grains Herbs and spices Some fermented elements Ginger where practical A variety of proteins across the week Household preferences One adult already has a separate morning yogurt bowl and needs two main meals plus one snack per day. The other adult needs one breakfast, two main meals, and one snack per day. Breakfasts should be fast, reheatable, and protein-forward. Shared lunches and dinners should generally be the same for both people to keep prep simple. Ideal candidate You are probably a strong fit if you are: Experienced with meal prep, batch cooking, or personal chef work Practical, quick, and organized Good at multicultural cooking and bold, familiar flavours Comfortable with Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, Chinese, and Italian-style meals Able to cook healthy food that still tastes good Cost-conscious when grocery shopping Good at portioning, labeling, freezing, and reheating systems Comfortable adapting around food preferences Reliable and clean Entrepreneurial and effective rather than overly precious or luxury-focused Requirements Meal prep, cooking, personal chef, prep cook, line cook, or equivalent experience Strong multicultural food experience Valid driver’s licence Ability to grocery shop and transport groceries Comfortable preparing meals for a private household Able to provide references if requested Not the right fit if You only want to cook high-end fine dining meals You shop only at premium specialty stores without regard for cost You are very new to cooking and still work slowly You prefer complex menus over efficient weekly systems You are only comfortable making bland chicken-rice-broccoli meal prep Interview exercise As part of the screening process, we may ask you to describe how you would design 3 days of meals for two adults, including shared lunches and dinners, one egg-based breakfast for one person, 30–35g protein per main meal, and tasty microwaveable meals that can be eaten with one utensil.
