My client is an American life science and clinical research company. It is a global supplier of analytical instruments, clinical development solutions, specialty diagnostics, laboratory, pharmaceutical and biotechnology services. Job Title: Electrical Designer Contract Duration: 6 months, with possible extension Location: Burlington, ON About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team, where you’ll play a critical role in delivering engineered electrical solutions for engineered-to-order (ETO) automated laboratory projects. You’ll work in a cooperative environment to ensure the performance and safety of cutting-edge automation systems. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, including customers, project managers, integrators, mechanical designers, procurement, and material planning. Support pre-sales efforts and act as a technical consultant for customer bids. Review designs with vendors for manufacturability and component selection, identifying alternatives as needed. Perform power distribution calculations and create electrical schematics (communications, power, safety) using AutoCAD. Conduct Safety Risk Assessments for compliance with standards such as OSHA, CSA, CE, UKCA, UL, IEC, or customer-specific requirements. Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) for electrical assemblies and manage part items in the ERP system. Lead and participate in design reviews, root-cause investigations, and design improvement initiatives. Maintain and improve the central design library for consistency and efficiency across projects. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical design or engineering roles. Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng) license is an asset. Experience in robotics and/or automated systems is an asset. Robust knowledge of domestic and international electrical codes. Proficient in AutoCAD (latest version). Experience with ERP systems, power distribution, and industrial network infrastructure. CMSE or machinery safety certification is an asset. Experience in customer-facing roles. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Why Join Us?
