Communications Technician (Metro Vancouver)

Our communication Technicians install voice, data, and fibre cables, test equipment, and troubleshoot problems. Our low voltage Technicians play an important role in keeping our clients communities and business connected. General service area is lower mainland Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Establish voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables - Terminate/troubleshoot copper and fibre plant - Terminate low voltage wiring such as CAT5/6, coax, paging etc. - Use ladders (at heights often) and power tools (drills etc.) - Meet with customers on a daily basis to diagnose an issue - Install fiber optic cabling and knowledge of ADSL and POTS - Read blueprints - Complete and maintain test and service reports Occasional Duties: - Install, remove and maintain various telecommunications equipment and related systems such as data network, telephones, audio video systems and other telecommunications equipment - Voice/data installation, repair, service and testing, - Install voice/data equipment, routers, and network switches - Install/troubleshoot Internet/IPTV/Voice equipment Qualifications and Equipment: - Driver’s License is required - Ability to speak, read, and write in English - Provides and uses personal tools including basic electrical tools, safety equipment/gear, steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles - Experience working in the trade is preferred. Willing to train the right person for this role.
