Design & Product Innovation Lead – Architectural Glazing …, Burnaby

We are looking for someone who is curious, technically minded, and client-focused to help shape the next generation of our products and systems. This is not a traditional design role. We’re looking for someone who is curious, takes ownership, and enjoys solving problems that don’t have obvious answers. You will work directly with architects, engineers, glaziers, contractors, and our internal team to: - understand emerging design challenges - identify opportunities for recent or improved products and systems - develop practical, buildable, and cost-effective solutions - help bring those solutions into real world projects What You’ll Do 1. Discover Opportunities - Engage with architects, engineers, glaziers, and contractors - Observe how our products are used (and where they fall short) - Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and unmet needs 2. Develop Solutions - Conceptualize new glass hardware and glass system ideas - Balance design intent, structural requirements, cost and installability - Work with engineering and production to bring ideas to life 3. Collaborate Across the Business - Work closely with Sales and design team to support early-stage project discussions - Support Project Managers with technical insight when needed - Help translate complex ideas into clear concepts for clients 4. Prototype and Testing - Use tools like SolidWorks and 3D printing to develop concepts. - Manage the creation and testing of prototypes working with 3rd parties - Iterate based on real-world feedback Who You Are - Curious and observant — you notice problems others miss - Comfortable speaking with architects and contractors - Able to think conceptually and execute practically - Knowledgeable in how things are made, not just how they look - Self-directed and able to take ownership of ideas This role requires judgment and initiative. You will be expected to engage directly with clients and take ownership of identifying and developing new ideas Background You might come from: - industrial design - mechanical design/engineering - architecture or architectural technology - glazing or façade systems Experience with SolidWorks (or similar) is important, but this role is not primarily about drafting.
