Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant Job Description This role supports the Plant Controller across operations with a strong emphasis on cost accounting, manufacturing variances, and operational partnership. The successful candidate will be hands-on in month-end close, deeply engaged with manufacturing operations, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment following a recent acquisition. This is a highly visible role that partners closely with Operations, Corporate Accounting, and Finance leadership and will contribute to forecasting, inventory optimization, and cost reduction initiatives. Responsibilities Execute core cost accounting activities, including manufacturing cost analysis, BOM costing, and cost roll-ups, and inventory and material variance analysis. Actively support month-end close, with a standard close completed in 3 days, focusing the first 3 days on entries and days 4u20135 on analysis and commentary. Partner closely with Operations to support productivity, cost reduction, inventory turns, and variance reduction. Participate in operational discussions and act as u201ceyes and earsu201d for Finance. Support forecasting, budgeting, and operational reporting. Contribute to audit and year-end processes. Participate in earnings call preparation and exposure to investor-facing reporting. Assist with monthly close process, completing assigned responsibilities timely while maintaining support and documentation. Process journal entries and perform account reconciliations. Assist with budget, forecast, analysis, interdependent projects, and ad hoc requests. Review, investigate, and explain variances on a routine basis. Provide support for annual physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory analysis. Conduct financial reporting and review and analyze business segmentsu2019 gross profit. Perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support business. Prepare analysis on high priority accounts, quarter/year-end packages, and audit requests. Identify control weaknesses and suggest process improvements to maintain effective controls over financial accounting and reporting. Support continuous improvement efforts and promote healthy, respectful communications. Create detailed process documentation, ensuring accounting implications of processes are clearly understood. Essential Skills Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting. 5+ years of accounting experience with 2+ years in a Cost Accounting role within a manufacturing environment. Experience with journal entries, debits/credits, balance sheet and P&L; understanding. Proficiency in month-end close processes including inventory reconciliations and departmental cost reviews. Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency setting and supporting a mid-to-large organization ($100M+ revenue). Strong Excel skills including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables, and comfortable with large datasets. Experience with mid-to-large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Dynamics 365. Additional Skills & Qualifications CPA designation (or in progress). Systems experience with SAP or BAAN. Working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX. Experience with MRP systems. Background in a similar industry (electronics manufacturer, energy systems provider / industrial services). FP&A; exposure in budgeting and forecasting.
