Job Description: Kinesiology Summer Student at Seton Villa Position Title: Kinesiology Summer Student Department: Recreation & Wellness Supervisor: Jay, Kinesiologist Employment Type: Summer Position (Full-Time/Part time) Location: Seton Villa Retirement Centre Position Overview: The Kinesiology Summer Student will assist the Kinesiologist in planning and delivering wellness-focused programs for residents at Seton Villa. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in senior wellness, active aging, rehabilitation support, and physical activity promotion within a retirement living environment. Responsibilities: - Assist in leading wellness and fitness programs including chair exercises, stretching, strength and balance classes, Aquafit, walking programs, and active games. - Support residents during physical activities while ensuring safety, encouragement, and proper technique. - Assist in implementing individual and group wellness plans under the supervision of the Kinesiologist. - Monitor and document residents’ participation and progress in wellness programs. - Present a weekly summary outlining their impact on residents’ fitness, participation, and wellness engagement. - Assist with research and data collection during recreation and wellness programs. - Help organize wellness initiatives, swimming sessions, brain fitness activities, and events that promote healthy aging and community engagement. - Assist with setup, cleanup, and maintenance of wellness and fitness equipment. - Build positive and supportive relationships with residents while promoting confidence, mobility, and overall well-being. - Collaborate with the Recreation Team during larger community events and special programs as needed. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, for 8 weeks starting June 29th. Please note that flexibility is required. During larger social events, special recreation programs, or bus trips, the Kinesiology Summer Student may be asked to assist with recreation-related duties based on operational needs and at the discretion of the Recreation & Leisure Program Lead. At times, the student may be temporarily reassigned from kinesiology duties to support the broader Recreation Department. Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Kinesiology or related program at a recognized institution. - Strong interest in wellness, fitness, rehabilitation, and working with older adults. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. - Energetic, compassionate, organized, and professional. - CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
