About the Opportunity This intermediate accounting role is an exciting opportunity to join a busy finance team within a public sector organization. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and supporting day-to-day operations that keep the organization running smoothly. Your Responsibilities
You’ll complete account postings, accruals and allocations in a timely manner, preparing adjusting entries and generating reports from the system
You’ll review employee reimbursements and payment requisitions, referring unusual issues to your supervisor
You’ll prepare GST and PST returns, financial schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries
You’ll assist junior accounting clerks in resolving procedural or processing questions
You’ll implement chart field changes, including additions, inactivation and description updates
You’ll ensure compliance with corporate policies and general accounting principles
You’ll work effectively in a fast-paced office environment, taking initiative and managing multiple priorities
Skills and Qualifications
Completion of an accounting diploma program or enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program is preferred
Experience with a computerized accounting system as well as Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of general accounting principles, corporate policies, and taxes (GST, PST, non-resident withholding)
Self-starter with strong communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
