Position Overview The Beedie Family Office has been established to meet the investment, estate planning, philanthropic, lifestyle and tax service needs of the Beedie family. The Beedie Family Office maintains close connections with the core operating group; however, it is guided by a distinct set of family goals and visions that extend past real estate operations. This role will provide support for the Family Office by managing daily accounting, reporting and compliance activities, as well as ad‑hoc projects as needed.

You will be part of a team of professionals and will work closely with the Managers and other key members of the team. The Senior Accountant supports the development of the Junior and Intermediate accountants and demonstrates strong initiative in identifying efficiency opportunities while performing well in both independent and team‑oriented environments.

Key Responsibilities General Accounting and Reporting:

Complete full‑cycle accounting processes for multiple entities, including reviewing bills, invoices, journal entries, intercompany transactions and reports prepared by Junior and Intermediate accountants

Maintain accurate and timely accounting records, including timely resolution of reconciling items across multiple entities within family office portfolio and other groups within Beedie

Support and coordinate month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities to meet reporting deadlines

Perform periodic financial review and analysis for multiple entities, including both in‑house accounting operations and externally managed investments

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for multiple entities, including consolidated corporate group reporting, and private foundations

Act as a team resource to resolve discrepancies and questions, including vendor bill issues, ERP system troubleshooting, and guidance on complex accounting transactions

Budgeting and forecasting:

Develop and support the family office budgeting and forecasting processes

Perform budget vs actual variance analysis

Oversee daily and weekly cash flow balances to support payroll and accounts payable processes

Tax and Compliance:

Assist with quarterly tax pro forma for individual clients and corporate entities

Review various income tax and information returns including (but not limited to) T1, T2, T3, T2054, Speculation Tax, and Charity returns

Assist with responding to CRA audit/review queries by preparing working papers, schedules and letter responses for submission

Assist with tax research and planning as required

Other duties:

Mentor and develop Junior and Intermediate accountants on both technical capabilities and soft skills

Develop or assist in broader training programs for the team

Proactively identify and implement improvements to accounting procedures and systems to maximize efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve data quality

Assist with special projects and other duties as required

Desired Skills and Experience

Completion of CPA designation (or legacy CMA, CGA, CA) and university level education

Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in a public practice accounting firm or experience in a structured full‑cycle accounting environment

Strong understanding of accounting standards (ASPE)

High level experience in computer skills: Microsoft Office including advanced level MS Excel skills

Takes ownership and capable of operating independently

Effective critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks as part of a team or independently in a fast‑paced environment

Comfortable and confident in asking questions

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute effectively within a team environment

The following are assets:

Experience with a reputable CPA firm involved in Private Enterprise group

Financial statement consolidation experience

Experience with Netsuite, Yardi and Caseware

Experience with PowerBI and AI

$90,000 - $105,000 a year

The annual base pay range for this position will be based on the desired experience level for this role.
