A well-established wholesale and distribution company is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Financial Controller to spearhead their daily accounting ecosystem. In this pivotal role, you will take full ownership of fiscal integrity, treasury health, and operational accounting. As a strategic yet execution-focused leader, you will safeguard the financial accuracy while partnering across departments to drive efficiency. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works in tight alignment with the Operations Director and the Head of Administration. 1. Fiscal Governance & Period-End Execution - Orchestrate the entire month-end closure cycle and oversee the production of corporate financial statements. - Execute complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and sub-ledger maintenance. - Audit and compute variable compensation schedules and performance bonuses for the sales division. - Deliver robust variance reporting and actionable financial narratives to executive leadership. 2. Treasury, Cash Flow & FX Risk Management - Monitor daily liquidity, manage credit line positioning, and engineer rolling cash flow projections. - Conduct complex bank clearing and major vendor account reconciliations. - Mitigate foreign exchange volatility by managing cross-border payable exposures and multi-currency transactions. - Supervise receivable collections workflows, including merchant processing and bank drafts. 3. Statutory Compliance & Payroll Administration - End-to-end processing of corporate payroll and corporate benefits programs. - Ensure absolute compliance with provincial and federal tax authorities, executing timely filings for GST, PST, WorkSafeBC, and payroll source deductions. - Maintain rigorous adherence to standard accounting frameworks and regulatory mandates. 4. Inventory Logistics & Facilities Co-Leadership - Manage valuation, controls, and accounting structures for high-volume textile and flooring stock. - Partner with logistics and warehouse teams to audit inventory variances and streamline supply chain data. - Act as a joint site leader for our current Burnaby operating facility alongside the Administration Manager. 5. Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement - Directly supervise, mentor, and elevate the performance of a dedicated Accounting Clerk. - Champion the optimization of our financial systems. - Drive annual budgeting, mid-year forecasting, and external audit/year-end preparation. Core Credentials: - Professional Designation: Active CPA certification is highly preferred. - Proven Tenure: A minimum of 3 years leading full-cycle corporate accounting operations. - Leadership Track Record: Direct experience supervising, coaching, and developing junior accounting staff. Technical Competencies: - Hands-on experience navigating Acumatica or a comparable modern Cloud ERP. - Deep familiarity with inventory-heavy sectors (e.g., wholesale, distribution, or retail environments). - Practical knowledge of foreign currency translation and international vendor management. - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data modeling, advanced formulas, and VLOOKUPs/Pivot Tables).
