Job Summary We are seeking a Building Science Engineer with expertise in building envelope design & field review, building envelope assessments, and forensic investigations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in evaluating building systems, estimating repair/replacement costs, and delivering comprehensive reports for strata properties. Fieldwork and collaboration with stakeholders will be key components of this role. Key Responsibilities - Prepare comprehensive depreciation reports, including: - Detailed component inventories and condition assessments. - Cost estimates for short- and long-term repairs/replacements. - Cash flow projections and funding strategies. - Conduct field inspections and assessments of building envelopes (roofs, walls, windows, foundations). - Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for remediation/retrofit projects. - Provide building envelope design reviews for architectural drawings/specifications and collaborate with clients, engineers, and architects on new construction projects. - Review construction documents for compliance with building codes and best practices. - Assist in project management, including site coordination and client communication. - Conduct field performance testing such as window water tests and air leakage tests. Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor of Applied Science/Engineering. Master’s degree in Building Science preferred. - Be registered or eligible for registration as an engineer-in-training (EIT) or PEng with EGBC. - 3+ years of experience in: - Building envelope consulting in new and existing construction. - Familiar with ASHARE, BC Building Code, NECB, RCABC and other relevant standards. - Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office. - Experience in energy modelling software such as HOT2000 and eQUEST is an advantage. - Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills for reports and client interactions. - Ability to travel and work at heights. - Valid
British Columbia Driver’s Licence and access to personal vehicle (work related travel expenses will be compensated). *Note: The formal title for this role may differ based on qualifications, but the core responsibilities and expectations will remain unchanged.
