Overview Founded in 2023, 2K Sports Lab is the newest stand‑alone studio at 2K looking to push game development boundaries to bring 2K’s next groundbreaking sports franchise to life. We are building a world‑class team at our new Vancouver, BC location to deliver an exceptional experience through bold ideas, technical excellence, and creative collaboration.
What We Need As a Senior Technical Artist at 2K Sports Lab, you will help bridge the gap between our engineering and art teams. This role requires proven experience and artistic versatility to handle a variety of technical art challenges, including collaboration with the art team to improve the look and feel of our game using Unreal Engine 5.
Responsibilities
Build UI screens and HUDs by integrating backend code developed by our engineers.
Iterate on prototypes using UE5 and provide creative problem‑solving solutions.
Partner with Leads and Artists to establish high‑performing content workflows and tools to improve the quality of life for UI Artists.
Ensure solutions are optimized for style, technical requirements, and production constraints, documenting workflows and training materials.
Develop a universal UI widget and screen template library using custom MVVM and UMG code.
Develop advanced UI shaders to support UI artist requirements.
Communicate daily with all teams to keep technical art aligned with project goals.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience as a Technical Artist, with at least one AAA shipped title (preferably in Unreal Engine).
Experience with node‑based shader networks in Unreal Editor.
Knowledge of CgFX, HLSL, or CG from a technical artist’s perspective.
Proficiency in modern industry‑standard 3D software, including Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Houdini, and Maya.
Experience building tools for Artists using UE Blueprints.
Experience with UMG scripting.
Beneficial Qualifications
Experience with Unreal MVVM.
Experience with developing diegetic UI elements.
Pay&Benefits The pay range for this position in British Columbia at the start of employment is expected to be between CAD $96,400 and CAD $142,660 per year. Base pay may vary based on location, experience, and other business considerations. Total compensation may also include bonuses, equity awards, a 401(K) plan, and an Employee Stock Purchase Program.
