Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Produce Manager to oversee the daily operations of our produce department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining product quality, ensuring excellent customer
service, and driving sales. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for fresh produce. The Produce Manager will play a key role in ensuring the department meets its sales goals while maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness. Duties - Supervise and train produce department staff, including scheduling and performance management - Oversee inventory purchasing, pricing, and merchandising to maximize sales and profitability - Ensure proper handling, storage, and freshness of all produce items - Manage POS systems, cash handling, and cashiering responsibilities during shifts - Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote produce sales - Monitor department budgets and control costs through effective inventory management - Conduct regular quality checks to maintain product standards - Recruit new team members through interviewing and onboarding processes - Coordinate with suppliers for purchasing and delivery schedules - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with health regulations - Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints with professionalism and courtesy - Lead team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and training initiatives Qualifications - Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail or grocery store environments - Strong knowledge of produce merchandising, pricing strategies, and inventory management - Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus - Experience with POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks - Demonstrated leadership in team management, training & development, and sales management - Skills in negotiation, marketing, budgeting, and store management - Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks efficiently - Organizational skills with attention to detail in merchandising and store presentation - Customer service orientation with excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills - Proficiency in math for inventory calculations and financial recordkeeping - Multilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse customer bases This position offers an opportunity to lead a vital department within our retail operation while developing your leadership skills in a quick-paced environment.
