Welder Helper (Caledon)

Overview We are seeking a motivated Welder Helper to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, and construction environments. The ideal candidate will support welding operations by assisting skilled welders and contributing to various fabrication tasks. Candidates with a robust work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and an interest in manufacturing are encouraged to apply. Duties - Assist welders with setup and preparation of welding equipment, including MIG and TIG welding processes - Support rigging operations and help position materials using cranes and hand tools - Prepare materials for welding by measuring with calipers and performing basic math calculations - Operate power tools and hand tools safely for assembly, cutting, and fabrication tasks - Assist with plasma cutting, press brake machine operations, and sheet metal forming tasks such as ductwork fabrication - Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project specifications - Support machining operations including using calipers, schematics, and basic machine setup - Help with the assembly of components according to construction or manufacturing plans - Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency on the shop floor - Follow all safety protocols related to welding, rigging, machining, and general manufacturing procedures Experience - Prior experience in welding (MIG or TIG), blueprint reading, or fabrication is a plus but not required; training will be provided - Knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, and the use of hand tools and power tools is advantageous - Familiarity with crane operation, forklift use, or plasma cutting equipment is beneficial but not mandatory - Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to assembly and fabrication processes - Experience in construction or ductwork projects is a plus but not essential; willingness to learn is key This role provides valuable exposure to various aspects of manufacturing and fabrication industries.
