Position Overview We are hiring a Support Counsellor / Residential Addictions Support Worker for a residential addiction treatment program. This role is best suited for someone with addiction, mental health, recovery support, social service, psychology, or related training, along with hands-on experience supporting individuals in recovery. This is not a psychotherapy role. The position focuses on client support, structure, group facilitation, documentation, boundaries, and helping maintain a safe, recovery-oriented residential environment. Responsibilities - Build supportive and professional relationships with clients - Conduct regular client check-ins - Support clients with emotional regulation, accountability, and recovery goals - Help facilitate psychoeducational or recovery-focused groups - Encourage participation in daily programming - Assist with admissions, orientation, appointments, and discharge planning - Support healthy boundaries and community expectations - Monitor client engagement and report concerns to leadership - Complete transparent and timely documentation - Communicate professionally with therapists, counsellors, and leadership staff Qualifications Preferred - Diploma, degree, certificate, or training in Addictions and Mental Health, Social Service Work, Psychology, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field - Experience working in addiction, mental health, residential treatment, shelters, crisis settings, community services, or recovery support - Fluent spoken and written English communication skills - Ability to complete professional shift notes and documentation - Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle Assets: - Group facilitation experience - Case management experience - Knowledge of addiction recovery principles - Trauma-informed care training - Familiarity with CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, or relapse prevention - First Aid/CPR - CPI, de-escalation, or crisis-prevention training Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: - Warm, calm, and professional - Comfortable supporting people in addiction recovery - Able to maintain strong boundaries - Reliable and organized - Confident handling day-to-day situations - Comfortable facilitating groups - Able to balance compassion with accountability - Strong in verbal and written communication - Able to work independently and as part of a team To Apply Please submit your resume and include a short note confirming: - You have checked the commute to Palgrave, ON - You have a valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle - You are fluent in spoken and written English - Your experience in addiction, mental health, residential treatment, recovery support, or related work Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour Application question(s) - Have you entered Palgrave, ON into Google Maps and confirmed that the commute works for you? - Do you have a valid driver’s licence and regular access to a reliable vehicle? - Are you willing and able to drive to Palgrave for scheduled shifts? - Are you FLUENT in spoken and written English, including professional communication and basic documentation? - Please briefly describe your addiction, mental health, recovery support, residential treatment, or related experience/training.
